Questions about new house builders
Practical answers to help you plan the next step.
Do you build individual houses for private clients?
Yes. The new-house service is for an individual home built from your architect’s drawings, with Cameron managing the agreed building work. Share the site location, drawings and current stage of the project when you book a visit. He will discuss the specification, access and finish you need before setting out the scope and preparing a quote.
Do I need completed drawings before getting in touch?
You can make contact while your ideas are developing. To quote the building work properly, Cameron needs enough design and specification information to understand what is being built. Bring what you have, including plans and structural information where available. The site visit helps identify the details still to be resolved and the next steps towards a clear building scope.
Can I manage the later stages myself?
Yes. If you want to organise parts of the build yourself, discuss that before the quote is prepared. The agreed handover might be at wall plate, plaster finish or another clearly defined stage within those arrangements. Cameron records the work included and the condition at handover, so you can plan the remaining trades and responsibilities with a clear starting point.
Who deals with the architect and building control?
You appoint the professionals needed for your design and arrange the required applications, either yourself or through an appointed professional. Cameron works from that information and liaises with building control during the stages he manages. Any design query or change needs to be resolved with the appropriate person. Building-control approval remains a decision for the inspector or approving body.
How long does a new house take to build?
The programme depends on the design, site conditions, specification and how far you want Cameron to take the work. Discuss these at the visit so timing can be considered against a defined scope. Once underway, he coordinates the trades and explains delays or changes that affect the next steps. A project-specific programme is more useful than a standard completion promise.
How do I get a quote for a new house?
Book a site visit with the site postcode and a short summary of the proposed home. Send the drawings and specifications you already have and state whether you want the complete finish or an earlier handover. Cameron can then assess the scope on site and identify the information needed for a quote. Variations are discussed and agreed before additional work proceeds.
What should we agree before this work starts?
Site access, ground conditions and the structural design affect the early programme. Window openings, roof details and material choices need decisions in time for the trades that follow. Cameron talks through these dependencies with you. Your architect and appointed specialists remain responsible for their design work. You or your appointed professional arrange the applications; Cameron coordinates the build and the inspections for the work within his scope.
