Questions about roofing
Practical answers to help you plan the next step.
Can you coordinate the roof as part of my extension?
Yes. Roofing can form part of the extension work Cameron agrees to manage. He coordinates the relevant roofing contractors with the brickwork, carpentry and later internal stages. The specification and drawings establish the intended roof and its details. If your agreed handover is before roof construction, the quote will make that boundary clear so you can arrange the later work.
Is a flat or pitched roof better for my extension?
The appropriate choice depends on the proposed design, available heights, the existing house and any planning requirements. Each approach also affects the internal ceiling and the type of rooflight that can be considered. Your designer can develop the suitable options. Cameron reviews the chosen proposal at the site visit and discusses how it will be built within the agreed project.
Can rooflights be included?
Rooflights can be included where they are part of the agreed design and suitable for the roof construction. Their size and position need to be coordinated with the structure, covering and internal finishes. Share the specification before the roofing stage is planned. Cameron can then make sure the relevant trades are working from consistent information and discuss any unresolved details.
Can roofing be included in a house renovation?
Yes, where the proposed renovation includes changes to the roof. The existing condition and the design determine what work is needed. Cameron reviews the roof requirements alongside the other alterations, then coordinates the relevant trades within the agreed scope. The focus is a planned building project, with the roofing decisions connected to the rooms and structure they affect.
Who coordinates the trades on site?
Cameron is your project manager and point of contact. He coordinates the relevant trades for this stage of the work and the building stages around it. You can speak to him by phone, email or WhatsApp. If a decision or delay affects progress, he explains the position and the next step, and checks the agreed work through to handover.
How is the work quoted?
Book a site visit and tell us about the larger project and the work you need. Send the property postcode and any available drawings. Cameron will confirm the visit, review the site and discuss the work and finish to include. Your quote relates to that agreed scope; any variations in work, cost or timing are discussed before proceeding.
What should we agree before this work starts?
Where a new roof meets an existing wall, the design must deal with more than its appearance. Levels, openings and the intended covering all affect the details that the trades need to follow. Bring your roof drawings and material preferences to the site visit. Cameron will discuss the roofing within the complete scope, including how its timing affects the internal stages that follow.
