About Cameron and the team

What customers say

Rated 5.0 out of 5 on Google.

We selected Cameron and his team for an extension on our property. Cameron made the whole process easy and clear with his communication and breakdown of job as the project progressed. The team kept everything very tidy and the work carried out was to an exceptional standard. I would highly recommend.

Great service from Cam & his team.. Provided updates throughout all stages of the work. Keeping to his schedule and providing solutions for any unknown changes needed. highly recommended.

Sam RGoogle review

I've brought Cam in to do a few jobs over the years: the patio at the rugby club, some pointing on the house, and some help repairing a brick wall. He shows up on time, cleans up after himself, and doesn't mess about. Highly recommend!

Common questions

What questions should I ask a builder before hiring them?

Ask who will manage your project, who will carry out each trade and how you will be kept informed. Request a written scope that makes clear what is included, where the work finishes and how changes will be priced.

Check payment stages, relevant insurance and who is arranging any applications. Ask to see examples of similar work. At Suffolk Coastal Construction, Cameron is your project manager and point of contact from the first visit through to your agreed handover.

Do I need planning permission for an extension?

Some extensions can be built under permitted development, provided the relevant limits and conditions are met. Whether that applies depends on the proposal and the property. Building regulations approval is separate, and your project may need both.

Your architect or local planning authority can advise on planning requirements. Agree the application responsibilities before work starts; Cameron liaises with building control on the work he manages.

Who arranges building control?

You or your appointed professional arrange the building-control application. Cameron then liaises with building control during the work and coordinates the inspections needed for the stages we undertake.

He values a good working relationship with inspectors, with the work assessed against the relevant requirements. Approval is a decision for building control. If we are handing over partway through a project, we agree where our work finishes and who takes responsibility for the remaining stages.

How long does a project take?

The programme depends on the size of the project, the work involved and the stage you want us to build to. Taking a build to wall plate is a different scope from completing the decoration.

Cameron talks through timings with you before work starts and coordinates the trades around the agreed programme. If weather, material availability or an unforeseen issue causes a delay, he keeps you informed about what has changed and the next steps.

Can you take on just part of my project?

Yes. We can build up to wall plate, take the project through to a plaster finish, or manage it through to the final paint finish. The relevant building trades are coordinated within the agreed project scope.

Tell Cameron which parts you want us to handle and which you plan to arrange yourself. The written scope sets out the work included and the handover point, so the next stage can be planned clearly.

Will you work from my architect's drawings?

Yes. Send your drawings to Cameron by email or WhatsApp so he can understand the proposed work before the site visit. He will discuss the scope with you, including whether you want a complete build or a handover at an earlier stage.

If you are still at the ideas stage, you can get in touch too. Cameron can talk through the next steps and what information is needed to price the work.

What areas do you cover?

We are based in Felixstowe and work across Woodbridge, Ipswich, Kesgrave, Martlesham, Aldeburgh, Saxmundham, Leiston and Framlingham, plus the villages between them. Most jobs are within 40 miles of Felixstowe. If you are further out, ask, because we will travel for the right job.

How do you price the work and handle changes?

Your written quote sets out the agreed work and what is included. The price relates to that scope, so a change to your plans or unforeseen work can affect the cost.

If a variation is needed, Cameron explains the work, the price and any effect on timing, then agrees it with you before it goes ahead. You have a clear record of what has been agreed throughout the project.
